EUNICE – All of the 2007 graduates of the LSU at Eunice’s associate degree program in radiologic technology passed the national certification examination, according to Rob McLaughlin, LSUE director of radiologic technology.
“This reflects how well the graduating students are prepared for the national boards and the quality of the LSUE program,” said McLaughlin.
Nineteen graduates of the program took the exam this summer. Seven of those students scored in the 90 percentile or better, with three scoring in 100 percentile.
The class recorded a mean scale score of 89, an increase of 0.9 over last year’s score. The 89 is the highest mean scale scored achieved by LSUE students since the exam became computer based.
The exam covers five areas: Radiation Protection, Equipment Operation and Quality Control, Image Production and Evaluation, Radiographic Procedures, Patient Care and Education. There are 200 questions on the exam.
Since 1993, LSUE has had a 99 percent pass rate on the national board exam administered by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
