Performing Arts Presents Keith Knight
Friday, February 15, 2008 - Troy Thibodeaux, LSUE Mass Comm 2000

Guitar wizard Keith Knight, who is currently making his way around the country, has settled in for a pit stop at Louisiana State University at Eunice. As well as being an instructor for the Southern Arts Federations Southern Artistry (SCAC’S), Knight is also an established vocalist, a mandolin player, and a finger guitarist.

His performance will be February 21 at 7:00 p.m. in the LSUE Health Technology Auditorium. Also on the 21st, he has a free noon workshop for the LSUE students and visitors that will be held in the schools library.

Mr. Knight is considered to be one of the “Top Ten Best Musicians” in the Austin Texas Music Awards and has been showcased in several conferences such as: Western Arts, Arts Midwest, and P.A.E. This Appaliaction Blues singer’s act is being dedicated to the memory of Anita Vinoche for her love and support to LSUE and the arts.

“The students need to be more aware of the art programs, it exposes them to a new level of education” said Dr. Baltakis, head of the performing arts.

For nearly eight years LSUE has been bringing several acts from all over the country. With sold out performances consisting of fifty-five percent of LSUE students, faculty and staff to the other forty-five percent who consist of the general public.

As each event gets better and better, the funding is getting more and more expensive. A simple task such as recycling, helps out greatly with the funds.

“Every little piece goes to the performance, especially the cans!” said Dr. Baltakis on the rising funds.
