LSUE Enrollment Up Six Percent
Thursday, September 25, 2008 - LSUE Public Relations

EUNICE – Enrollment for the fall 2008 at Louisiana State University at Eunice was up 5.86 percent over the fall of 2007, according to final regular fall semester enrollment figures released by the university’s registrar’s office.

Enrollment is 3,031 students, up over last fall and just 113 short of the university’s all time enrollment record of 3,265 set in 2003.

“The campus is very pleased with both the numbers and quality of students who make-up the nearly six percent increase in LSUE’s fall 2008 student body,” said LSUE Chancellor William Nunez. “This is especially significant in view of the shrinking populations of high school graduates in Louisiana as compared to most states in the United States.”

The enrollment boost is not just being felt on the Eunice Campus. LSUE experienced significant growth in central Louisiana at the university’s sites at the Learning Center for Rapides Parish and on the LSU-Alexandria campus. Enrollment in the school’s Advanced Credit Program on high school campuses and in LSUE’s online degree program are also up over last fall.

Students from 48 parishes are enrolled in LSUE classes, including off-campus classes. Parishes with 20 or more students attending LSUE this fall are St. Landry, 775; Acadia, 456; Evangeline, 349; Lafayette, 221; Rapides, 164; Vermilion, 98; Jeff Davis, 82; Iberia, 79; Allen, 69; St. Martin, 60; East Baton Rouge, 47; Calcasieu, 45; Avoyelles, 33 and 17 students from out-of-state.
