EUNICE – The LSU Eunice Performing Arts series will host Bobby Bridger February 3 at 6:30 p.m. in the Health Technology Auditorium on the LSUE campus.
Seekers of the Fleece tells the story of the first organized expedition of non-government, enterprising white men (later known as “mountain men”) to venture into the unknown American west.
Bobby Bridger is the grand-nephew of the notable Mountain Man of a century and a half ago, Jim Bridger.
Through story and music one can almost hear old Jim Bridger himself telling, in homey vernacular, and singing throatily to a guitar, the experiences of his fabulous life. Bridger tells of his great uncle’s strange companions – fabulous men and fabulous stories. What was it that drove them all to forsake the comforts and confines of civilization, immuring them in the unknown heartland of the continent, suffering unbelievable hardships, many of them dying as they lived, alone? Freedom of the spirit, an inner compulsion; these men opened the last wild hinterland of America to civilization.
This program is made possible through a “block booking” with The Louisiana Presenters Network (LPN) and is sponsored by the LSU Eunice Campus Activities Board.
Tickets are free to LSUE students and $3.00 for the public. For more information, please call 457-1510.
