LSU Eunice Bengal Athletics Offering Summer Camps

EUNICE – Summer basketball and baseball camps are being organized by the LSU Eunice Bengals Athletic Department.
Two camps for basketball players is being held this summer. A fundamentals camp and an offensive skills camp.
The Fundamental Basketball Skills Camp is for boys and girls who want to learn the basics of basketball. Shooting, passing, ball handling, footwork and defense will be the daily focus. The camp includes skill stations, games and contests. Each camper will be on a team with other campers similar in age and skill and will compete in games daily with a tournament on the last day of camp. The girls basic fundamentals camp runs June 22-25, while the boys basic camp will be June 15-18. The advanced fundamentals camp will be held July 7-9 for boys and July 21-23 for girls. Camp fee is $100 for the basic fundamentals camp or the advanced fundamentals camp. Fee to attend both fundamentals camp is $150.
Offensive Skills Camp is a specialty camp with a strong emphasis on the fundamentals of shooting and individual offensive moves. Campers will be taught the valuable habits of individual offense (shooting mechanics, footwork, moves with the ball, movement without the ball, passing, etc.). The foundation of the camp will be repetition through drill work and competition. Along with offensive fundamentals, the concepts of hard work, self-discipline, and teamwork will also be emphasized. This camp is open to girls 7-12 and will be June 13 from noon to 5 p.m. Cost of the camp is $50 per camper or $30 per campus if five players from the same school enroll.

A baseball camp for boys ages 5-14 is scheduled 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. June 1-5. Advance registration fee is $100 and includes a camp T-shirt. Campers will learn skills in hitting, pitching, defense and base running and sliding. For information about the baseball camps, contact Coach Jeff Willis, 550-1417.
