LSU Eunice to Host Youth Writing Camp
EUNICE, LA – Louisiana State University Eunice is hosting Word Up, a week-long youth creative writing camp open to grades 4-12, from 9:00 a.m. until noon on July 27-31 on the Eunice campus.
Word Up campers will have the opportunity to improve their prose and writing skills. They will participate in intense, innovative writing activities involving nature, music, and film.
“This creative writing camp is one of our finest summer enrichment activities. Young people who have demonstrated aptitude and interest in imaginative writing or poetry will come away from this week with confidence and the inspiration to continue developing their gifts,” said LSU Eunice Director of Continuing Education David Pulling.
The registration fee is $89, which includes tuition, a camp T-shirt, and a printed anthology of the campers’ published works. Participants will be divided into grade-level groups, including upper elementary/ lower middle and secondary.
Word Up is a sanctioned youth writing activity of the Acadiana Writing Project based at University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Writing Project Teacher Consultants, select school teacher/writers who have undergone the training of the Writing Project’s annual Summer Institute, will direct the camps. Writing Project teachers are selected for their commitment to advancing the state of writing instruction in schools across America through their affiliation with the National Writing Project.
